Two weeks ago we made our first visit to Vernon Crookes and we were amazed that we had overlooked such a wonderland of flowers, plants, animals and especially (for me particularly) the birds!! It was an accident that we ended up there as we could not get a response to enquiries by email or by phone..
On our last day there I asked for the Bird List and was given a photocopy of a list with acknowledgement to Dr Campbell(?) and honorary officers. But I found some obvious omissions and one surprising inclusion... Southern Ground Hornbill. When last did anyone see one in the Reserve?
Happy birding! Dave Ellinger
