Happy Rest Nature Reserve

Happy-Rest Nature Reserve and Schoemansdal Environmental Education Centre are situated in the foothills of the Soutpansberg, 22km west of Louis Trichardt.

Although best known for it's many different types of vegetation, it has a bird list of over 250 species. Birds range from typical bushveld species to a variety of forest birds including Black Sparrowhawk, Narina Trogon, African Crowned Eagle, Grey Cuckooshrike, Purple-crested Turaco, Knysna Turaco and Bat Hawk.
