Rustenburg (Kgaswane) Nature Reserve
<table> <tr> <td valign="top"> The Rustenburg Nature Reserve is situated about 130 km from Pretoria in the Magaliesberg Range. The reserve is adjacent to the city of Rustenburg and is easily accessible. About 246 bird species have been recorded with raptors as specials. ====Specials==== Brown Snake-Eagle, Black-chested Snake-Eagle, Eurasian Hobby, Orange River Francolin, Red-winged Francolin, White-bellied Korhaan, Cape Eagle-Owl, Freckled Nightjar, Rufous-cheeked Nightjar and Short-toed Rock-Thrush. ====Habitats==== Semi-highveld conditions on the plateau, bush covered northern slopes, a well-wooded valley in the east, and a wetland on the plateau. ====Facilities==== Facilities include a campsite with ten stands, a group camp for 50 people, a 4.6 km trail and a 21 km overnight trail. ====Birding==== Black-chested Snake-Eagle and Brown Snake-Eagle are regular in summer. Cape Eagle-Owl have bred here, and a Eurasian Hobby is seen frequently. The wetland supports amongst others Great Reed-Warbler, African Reed-Warbler, African Snipe and a large Barn Swallow roost in summer. Short-toed Rock-Thrush is found on the quartzite outcrops.
